Apple discovered a Zero-day exploit being used on devices. To protect your device, apple has released a security update(iOS 14.7.1, iPadOS 14.7.1, and macOS Big Sur 11.5.1). The Zero-day exploit executes arbitrary code with kernel privileges. The exploit is "actively" used.

Basically, a hacker can corrupt memory and can infect the device with malware.

If you are unsure if you have the latest update or do not know how, please contact me and I can walk you through it.

Google has revealed that Chrome versions below 91.0.4472.114 have 'zero day' exploits. According to Forbes, "security vendor Kaspersky warned that a new group of hackers calling themselves ‘PuzzleMaker’ have been successful in chaining together Chrome zero-day bugs to install malware on Windows systems. Microsoft itself issued an urgent security warning for Windows users about this last week."

It is very important to have Antivirus and Anti-malware software on computers. Having a computer not protected is very bad and can cause a lot of problems. Antivirus and anti-malware programs work hand in hand and do not conflict with each other. One can catch something the other doesn't. Be sure to only have one antivirus program (2 of these will conflict and cause issues).

Viruses and malware can steal passwords or data, record keystrokes (what you type in like username and passwords to financial institutions), corrupt the computer, etc. Ransomware is also a problem. Ransomware is when the computer is locked up and requires you to pay money in order for the hacker to unblock it (is there really an honor among thieves?).

There are multiple steps that need to be taken to keep your computer protected. Windows 10 is the most current operating system and the only one Microsoft supports. That means anything under Windows 10 does not get security updates an patches. Performing these updates are very important as they are basically closing doors that hackers can access. Also keeping the computer's drivers up to date is also very important (drivers are the software that makes the hardware in the computer work).

I recommend Malwarebytes for anti-malware. I have this on my home computer. The free version only runs when you scan manually. The premium version protects in real-time. It has a web-shield that warns if you try to access a site that has been reported as malicious. It also protects against ransomware.

I recommend PC Matic for antivirus. I personally use it at home and I have personally met the CEO at a presentation. After doing my research on it, I decided to be affiliated with it. PC Matic does not hog the computer resources like other antivirus programs like Norton. It not only protects from viruses, it has a built in anti-malware as well. It also has a web-shield that warns if you try to access a website or click on a add or link that has been reported as malicious. It also performs patches and updates drivers and does some tuneups. This program can be set on a schedule and it wont slow your computer down while it is running.

I do provide security maintenance and will take care of the computer's drivers and all security updates. If you are unsure whether you have antivirus and anti-malware on your computer, please give me a call and I can talk you through finding out. Consultations are always free. I am an IT professional with an Associates in Software Engineering and going for my BS in Software Development in Security. I have experience working in federal and state level government and private.

To purchase and download PC Matic please go to : https://cart.pcmatic.com/go.asp?id=506604. That is my special link and will get paid for the referral. I can also go on-site and download it for you and set it up and schedule automatic scans.
